Dr. William Ebenstein is University Dean for Health and Human Services and Executive Director of the JFK, Jr. Institute. Since 1989 when Dr. Ebenstein was appointed Director of Workforce Development at the City University of New York (CUNY), he has developed worker education programs at many CUNY campuses and pioneered CUNY’s undergraduate and graduate certificates in Disability Studies. Over the last several years, he has also led CUNY’s efforts to address the shortage of nurses within the health care industry. Dr. Ebenstein holds a bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University and a master’s and doctoral degree in Psychology and Literature from the University of Dallas. In 2006 he was awarded a Mayoral Advocacy Award for his efforts to raise the quality of life for people with disabilities.
