Four Students Complete the Undergraduate Certificate in Disability Studies, August 2008
On August 19, 2008, a completion ceremony was held at Lehman College for students completing the Undergraduate Certificate in Disability Studies. Students completing the certificate included: Nellie Velez and Tilsa Pattee from the John F. Kennedy, Jr. Institute for Worker Education, Kim Crumpler, from Association for the Advancement of the Blind and Retarded, and Velton Rajah, from FEGS.
Completion Ceremony Held for the Graduate Certificate in Disability Studies, January 2008
On January 10, 2008, the Graduate Certificate in Disability Studies celebrated its third Completion Ceremony at the CUNY Graduate Center. The 21 graduates represented 12 disability services agencies. Speakers included Brian Peterson, Associate Dean of the School of Professional Studies; Dr. Chris Rosa, representing the faculty; Scott Feldman, elected by his peers to be the Student Speaker; and Dr. Bill Ebenstein, Executive Director of the JFK, Jr. Institute. The JFK, Jr. Institute's 2006 Advocacy Award was presented to the Meade Family for their advocacy and support of the certificate through the Timothy Meade Tuition Award. Ashleigh Thompson, Deputy Director of the Institute, moderated the event.
